Andrea Jung, who still remains as an adviser for Avon, the global cosmetics company she vacated as CEO almost a year ago, has taken on a new role in the automotive industry. She will serve on the board of Germany’s Daimler AG (DAI), the world’s third largest maker of luxury cars (Mercedes-Benz), reportedly, in an action to add a female member. The move may come as a response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement late in 2012 pushing for more top-level female managers. The plan is for Jung to succeed Lynton R. Wilson when his board term expires, pending shareholders’ voting at the end of the session in April. Jung also holds seats on the boards of Apple and General Electric.
